Notable Quotables (2)

Notable quotables is a weekly meme hosted by Bewitched Bookworms (see my first post HERE), where bloggers and non-bloggers alike can visit to find great quotes from either books the blogger is currently reading, recently finished, or just really loves.

This week's notable quotable is...
"I think he did,' said Jem, 'and does love you, in his way, but you cannot concern yourself with that. It is a great a thing to love as it is to be loved. Love is not something that can be wasted." (Clockwork Angel, pg. 470)
This week's quote is from Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. In it, the lovely Jem is speaking to Tessa.  I finished the book just minutes ago and my mind is still wheeling. I loved Jem throughout the novel, and the quote is just one instance why. He has the ability not only to comfort characters in the novel, but to bring hope and reason into the life of the reader. I am not distressed by love (at the moment at least... haha), but his words still ring a note of comfort with in me. People love in their own way. Wether that is by fighting with your sibling, but at the same time being extremely mad if someone else was to fight with them. Or yelling at your mother, even though you love her and are infinitely times grateful for her. Or even shying away from the one person you love out of fear that they will hurt you. However it is someone chooses to show their love, they are still loving. And love is never something to be wasted.
