Witch Eyes Blog Tour

As apart of the Teen {Book} Scene tour for Witch Eyes, I am sharing a guest post by the author about books; recommendations, current library, etc. I hope you enjoy!

I think I've read more books in 2011 that I absolutely, positively love than in any year before.  And most of those were in YA.  Here's just a few of the books that really blew me away.

BLOOG MAGIC by Tessa Gratton - Whenever someone asks me about this book, I tell them it's just like CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, but with blood instead of chocolate.  It's fun, and full of intrigue and fantastical dynamics.  I cannot wait for the sequel!

THE NEAR WITCH by Victoria Schwab - This is a book that just begs to be read aloud.  The language is gorgeous, the story is stunning, and the characters are otherworldly and enchanting.  The town of Near is the perfect setting for this novel length fairy tale.

THE UNBECOMING OF MARA DYER by Michelle Hodkin - It was the dialogue in this book that really drew me in and kept me fascinated.  Mara's give and take relationship with Noah, Mara's relationships with her brothers, the kids' relationships with their parents, each of these were elements that made me finish the book and then immediately want to pick it back up again.  I liked the thriller aspect, and how we learned things along the way with Mara.

THE DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE by Laini Taylor - Talk about a book that made me want to stop writing.  From the first chapter, I knew I was in trouble, and I had to step away from my computer for a weekend so I wouldn't keep thinking to myself, "I will never be as good as Laini Taylor."  There was so much that was fresh in this novel, that the entire thing is just outstanding.

Other books that I'm really looking forward to this year are THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS, AU REVOIR, CRAZY EUROPEAN CHICK, MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN, and LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR.

  2. Charlie and the chocolate factory, but with blood. Haha. A lot of these books are on my TBR list and daughter of smoke and bone was amazing.

I have to read Anna first before Lola still but still looking forward to it.
