Never Eighteen Blog Tour

Today I am happy to share a guest post by Megan Bostic as a part of The Teen {Book} Scene tour for Never Eighteen. I hope you enjoy Megan's top ten list of favorite places ever visited!

There are so many to choose from, and there are some I didn’t mention because I was so young I can barely remember, but here are the ten I chose.

10. Cannon Beach, OR: Any beach really, but Cannon beach is so beautiful, and the sand is so pristine because you’re not allowed to drive on the beaches in Oregon like you are up here in Washington. I haven’t been there in years but would love to go back.

9. Glass Museum, Tacoma, WA: We have amazing museums here in our city, but the silver coned, glass museum is my favorite. You don’t even have to go inside to enjoy it. There’s a walking bridge that leads from one of the main drags over to it lined with Chihuly pieces of all different colors in glass display cases. But it is thrilling to go inside too. You can go to the hot room and watch them blow glass, plus they always have other interesting art exhibits to enjoy.

8. Space Needle, Seattle, WA: I’ve lived here pretty much my whole life and finally went to the Space Needle about three years ago. I was doing research for Never Eighteen, and I’m glad I went otherwise that scene would have been completely inaccurate. I rode the elevator, ate at the restaurant, Skycity (the food is to die for), and enjoyed the view from the Observation Deck. Awesome experience.

7. Comet Falls, Mount Rainier, WA: I tried to describe it the best I could in the book, but really, you’d have to see it to understand how beautiful and majestic it is. The hike is worth it.

6. Wapato Point, Lake Chelan, Chelan, WA: I’ve been going there for years. My parents had a time share there forever. It’s right on the lake, which is glacier fed, so it’s cold and refreshing after sitting in the hot sun. They have a walking trail, an indoor pool and many outdoor ones as well, putt putt golf, and you can rent canoes, bikes, kayaks. When we’d take the kids, our favorite thing to do was kayak to the other side of the lake and hang out. Haven’t been there in a while. I miss it.

5. Disneyland: Need I say more?

4. Venice, Italy: It’s amazing, a whole city on the water—the gondolas, the bridges, Saint Mark’s Square. Only bad thing, but still interesting, is the pigeons.

3. Sundance, Park City, UT: I received this trip out of the kindness of strangers. I had entered a contest and wanted to take my mom. I didn’t win, but this man, I met him through Facebook, worked for one of the sponsors of Sundance and sent us, airfare, , shuttle, hotel, and passes to the festival. Park City was beautiful. There was snow everywhere, but it was sunny and the sky was blue the whole time we were there. We got to see some amazing movies. Mostly, I loved the one on one time I had with my mom.

2. New York/Long Island, NY: I’ve been four times, and had some amazing experiences. I went once with my mom and sisters. We had a blast, just walking the streets of New York, going to Central Park, shopping, FAO Schwartz, and we took in a Broadway show, Caberet. When my friend Gae Polisner (The Pull of Gravity) got her book deal, she had a party and invited some friends we’d met through a writing contest, along with her own friends. It was so great to meet all these people I’d only talked to through message boards and emails. Then when she had her release party, I flew in and surprised her. You should have seen her face. It was awesome.

1. Rome, Italy: Breathtaking. Walking through Rome is like walking through a history book, or a museum. All those buildings, still standing nearly 2,000 years later, the coffee, the food, the art! The most amazing trip I’ve ever taken.
