Standalone Spotlight: June

This feature is a part of the 2012 Standalone Challenge hosted by myself and Hafsah at IceyBooks. If you want to sign up for the challenge and have not already, see the intro post HERE

So what is a Standalone Spotlight? Well, each month Hafsah and I will each pick a standalone YA novel that comes out in that month to feature. During that month we will hold author interviews, giveaways, reviews and other fun posts like this-or-that lists, character interviews and book trailer features! Sounds like fun, right?

For the month of June I am spotlighting....

This is Not a Test
 by Courtney Summers
It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self. To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up.
As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live. But as the days crawl by, everyone’s motivations to survive begin to change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life–and death–inside. When everything is gone, what doyou hold on to?e road, will either of them be able to cope with the consequences?

It releases June 19th from St. Martin's Press. I hope you stick around to see my review and check out the novel for yourself! If you want, you can find it on Goodreads

  1. This is one I was interested in. I requested it on NG but was denied. Oh well, one can't expect to get them all. :-)
